M20 - Miscanthus Nippon

Miscanthus sinensis Nippon. A new excellent compact selection and one of the smallest Miscanthus. Compact, distinctly different structure and elegant blooms. Thin, dark green, fine textured foliage is 5mm wide with fantastic early flowering red plumes, a good red-bronze autumn colour. The foliage is held somewhat horizontally arching, giving the overall impression is an ultralight bamboo-like scaffolding of thin leaves topped by pale slender fingers Dark red-brown plume appear late August and are held about 25cm above the foliage. An excellent selection for the smaller garden. 1.2- 1.4 meters height. Miscanthus Nippon prefers free draining open sunny site.
