Unmistakable with its evergreen mounds of dark green leaves tall stems and crowns of large panicles of oat like flowers first autumn gold then turning golden brown through winter. Stipa gigantea has tremendously presence in the garden and makes a formidable specimen. Stipa gigantea do not cope with shade. Stipa gigantea need full sun, but are exposure and drought tolerant. Free draining to dry soil, impoverished with sand is good. Has a low nutrient need. 2/3 Litre pot size.
