It is a slower growing than other Miscanthus, but a good, grower eventually reaching 1.6 meters tall. Miscanthus Gold Bar has heavily banded gold stripes on a bottle green leaf from the base of the grass to its crescent. These horizontal gold bars are much closer together than other banded Miscanthus and give Miscanthus Gold Bar a theatrical look. Exceptionally upright and compact in habit make this new grass perfect for large containers or in small urban gardens. Burgundy inflorescences appear just above the foliage in mid autumn.
