YourKua Number

Each Kua Number represents a life or House Trigram.

From this Trigram, it is possible to determine the auspicious and inauspicious directions for an individual or a property.

Each person has four auspicious directions they are their Cheng Qi, Tien Yi, Nien Yi and Fu Wei. The four inauspicious directions are your Ho Hai, Wu Kwei, Lui Sha and Cheuh Ming

Please note that the years are based on the Chinese calendar. The Chinese New year changes every year and if your birthday falls before the Chinese New Year then you use the previous year.

Once you have worked out your personal Kua (below) check the tables left to determine your best directions.

The Female Kua:

To determine your Kua if you are female just add the last two numbers of the year you were born 1971

in this example 7+1 so we have the result 8.

To this, we add 5 so we have 13

This is once again a two-digit number so we add this together 1+3=4

4 is the Kua number. Sun is  the Kua or Trigram.

If the Kua number is 5 then this is Center and no Trigram is associated. Female 5 must use Trigram 8.

The Male Kua:

To determine your Kua if you are Male just add the last two numbers of the year you were born. 1971, in this example 6+8 so we have the result 14.

This is once again a two-digit number so we add this together 1+4=5.

Now subtract from 10.

10-5=5.

5 is the Kua number.

The number 5 male or female is associated with the center so has no Trigram or Kua.

Both Male 5 should use Trigram 2 and female 5 must use Trigram 8.

Your Auspicious and Inauspicious Directions:  Compass school avery small taste.

Now that you have determined your personal Kua, (see left) you will want to know your best and worst direction. Identify your Kua number in the left hand column of the table below (There is a set of full size Pa Kua and many other tools for you to print off at the end Appendix of Qi Concepts. recommended) However before you can use them you will need to have a compass handy and understand the principles of taking an accurate compass bearing.

Note that direction is not the same as location. Direction is concerned with the eight possible directions you can face when standing in a particular location. It is about your personal Qi what are  the best directions for you to sit or face.

Location on the other hand is the area that affects the whole property and is where we can make changes. Location is concerned with property Qi.

The Chinese believe in compass school that different types of Qi arrive in our homes and gardens from different directions. This Qi accumulates in different parts of the house garden or room, which is the location we are referring to.

Feng Shui masters,   use the Lo Shu nine-box grid as well as the Lo Pan compass with its 24 Mountain directions to determine the energies in these locations.  But  we are just concerned with the Pa Ku and your auspicious directions.
