Bamboo Bambusa venticosa. ’The Buddha’s Belly Bamboo’. A very interesting semi tropical bamboo suited to warm greenhouse or conservatory culture medium green with short bulged internodes. Not fully hardy in UK but very popular. This bamboo however adapts well to pot culture and will do well in loam based poor compost in a warm area with plenty of sunshine. You will need to keep it hungry if you want to encourage the bulged internodes. It is quite tolerant of drought for a bamboo. Protect during the winter if outside.
