b5 - Fargesia Great Wall
Add this to My Wish List
An exceptional non-invasive choice for a garden specimen or accent, or as a focal point of interest in an evergreen hedge or screen. Great Wall’ belongs to a clumping species unlike the running Bamboos whose roots are aggressive colonizers. Great Wall is a bamboo whose growth is naturally compact. As such, producing a dense up welling of stems and foliage some 3.5 – 4.0 meters tall whose girth expands just a few inches a year. The new stems, which emerge in late spring or early summer, are dusted with blue but turn purplish-brown as they age. The leaves are larger than those of other Fountain Bamboos and it is also more reliably hardy cold tolerant to 29°C. It thrives in well drained, organic soils and light shade to full shade.
