Miscanthus ’Gold Bar’ is truly a show-stopper. It is a slower growing than other Miscanthus, but a good grower can reaching 1.2 meters tall seven years. With heavily banded gold stripes on a bottle green leaf from the base of the grass to its crescent. These horizontal gold bars are much closer together than other banded Miscanthus and give ’Gold Bar’ a theatrical look. Exceptionally upright and compact in habit make this new grass perfect for large containers or in small urban gardens. Burgundy inflorescences appear just above the foliage in mid autumn. ’Gold Bar’ is a splendid specimen. See the RHS Miscanthus trials here
