A Red-hot little number Miscanthus sinensis purpurascens If you want fantastic autumn colour in your landscape, then this is certainly the one for you, It will be the star of your garden with its showy red to purple foliage and abundance of straw yellow flower spikes. A nice compact grower, it fits well into smaller spaces. This warm season grower starts in spring with green foliage that turns to a reddish colour late summer and then to burnt orange and amber in the autumn. The blooms with their feathery inflorescence last well through the winter adding texture colour and animation to the garden. This gorgeous flame grass grows to 150cm with a spread of 80-100cm. Will tolerate most soil types prefers moist but well drained, acid, alkaline or neutral and full sun. Don’t over water and cut down in the spring before the new growth starts.
